Academic Portfolio
My twelve years of standard education has had its ups and downs. The least enjoyable of which was probably middle school. In high school, I became a lot more comfortable with myself. When I started my freshmen year at Meridian Technical Charter High School, it seemed like an eternity before I'd be able to leave. Now I'm sitting here, a week from graduation with a cumulative 4.0 GPA, and I don't think I would've done anything differently. The extracurricular activies that I did were perhaps the best part of my education, and only wish I could've done more like ISAS (see below).
Idaho Science and Aerospace Scholars
Idaho Science and Aerospace Scholars is program that only exists in three states. The program starts with an online class through IDLA that talks about the history and future of space travel. After the class, there was a regional capstone at Gowen Field to celebrate the class and meet your peers. The top 88 of 400 students are invited to a summer camp at Boise State and NASA Ames Research Center. I had an amazing time at the summer camp, and I got to meet missions controllers, and astronauts alike.
ISAS Regional Capstone
The ISAS regional capstone was an all-inclusive alumni event at Gowen Field. At this event, we all met at the military museum and were transported by charter bus onto the military base. Here, we had breakfast and then began our exploration. We got to see military equipment of all kinds, sit in AC-10s, tanks, jeeps, Apache and Blackhawk helicopters. After that got to go into the flight control tower at the Boise Airport. Lastly, we went NOAA and learned about how they monitor the weather. In the picture on the left, I am dressed in full pilot gear.
Lead America Engineering & Technology Conference
Lead America, Engineering and Technology, was a summer camp centered around Engineering and Technology. Located at UC Berkeley, I had the opportunity to travel to California on my own, and see San Jose, San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley.
Computer Engineering & Hardware Prototyping
I took a computer engineering and hardware prototyping camp at Boise State University. The camp lasted five days. When I arrived at the camp, I looked at the breadboard and circuit components and felt lost. During the course of the camp, I quickly picked up how everything worked and started to feel more in my element and quickly became passionate about the subject. Now I have an entire soldering station in my room.
